I see only apparitions, ghosts of the past  
I notice how they disappear like smoke in a glass  
Storms that form a feeling, lightning strikes at it fast,  
reveal a shadow of a memory, from deep in the past,  
now past, present and future turn to sutures and scars,  
these life like apparitions come as quick as they pass

Time is an illusion of a temporary state,  
life measured in milestones of growth and decay  
Sand inside the hourglass, our life in a grain,  
Flipped upside down just to do it again

Time ticks and tocks while we hang from the clock,  
second-hand memories, obsession, a cross,  
Crucifixtion of religion how the message was lost,  
love locked away in a Vatican box

The gateway to heaven hangs heavy with locks,  
middle management bots acting like they’re the boss,  
don’t it seem like the henhouse was lost to a fox ?

Or is power and division the real message of God?  
Stories of old testaments touched up with some gloss,  
Gods turned to singular, facts into fog,  
myths and contradictions, truth within the fiction,  
egos division and hostile dominions

Is this the same God that we hear in the New?  
That’s one hell of a rebrand, somethings askew  
Sense turned to dollars and gold bars in vaults,  
Repent to us your sins let you think it’s your fault

Is this really the message of the creator our god?
